Finding the Perfect Internship
An easy 4-step process to land your dream gig
BY BETSY HUANG, USC
It seems like everybody is talking about internships nowadays. Because of
their obvious benefits, many college students are hoping to complete an
internship sometime before they graduate. But many students are clueless about
how to find an internship, and most are not even sure where to start looking.
Here are the steps in finding the right internship for you:
1. Career Center
The first step in finding the perfect internship should start at the
career center on your campus. Most career centers have counselors who can
help you with just about everything, including writing or editing your
resume, improving your interviewing skills, telling you about upcoming
career fairs, answering any questions you might have, and more. There
should also be a resource section where you can look through books and
literature about internships. And most likely, there will be computers
where you can search online.
Also, be on the lookout for events sponsored by the career center. Most
career centers will periodically hold Career Fairs, Internship Weeks, workshops,
seminars, etc. Taking part in these events will most likely be beneficial for
you.
