Winning Characteristics Scholarship
General Information
For the 2008-2009 academic year, Making It Count awarded one national,
$5,000 and five regional, $1,000 one-time award scholarships to high school
seniors who participated in the Making College & Career Count presentation
and who exhibited excellence based on the "Winning Characteristics"
highlighted in the program.
Details about the 2009-2010 "Winning Characteristics" scholarship will be available in the future.
Application Process
The application includes general information, as well as a 600-word
essay (to write a great essay, read "Essay
Tips") on how well the student has demonstrated the "Winning
Characteristics" discussed in the Making College & Career Count program
in his or her high school career.
The application for the 2009-2010 “Winning Characteristics” Scholarship will be available in the future.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must participate in a Making College & Career Count presentation.
- Application must be submitted after the date of the high school’s Making College & Career Count presentation.
- Applicant must be enrolled in a public, private, charter, magnet, vocational, technical or parochial school, as a high school senior.
- Applicant must possess a cumulative G.P.A. of at least a "B" or higher at the time of application.
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Applicant must have plans to enroll in some type of formal education or training program following high school (i.e. college, technical school, vocational school, formal career training program).
